LONDON, PRINCESS LOUISE, HOLBORN. The reopening is now rescheduled for 3 January. I will try and reconfirm this for you the day before as I know a number of people are thinking of queueing up at the door. However, this depends on my getting hold of somebody to give me a clear answer – I’ll do my best. I had a sneak preview and it is looking utterly amazing with the Victorian-style screens back in place (including curved etched glass). They’ve also laid new mosaic-work down the right-hand corridor (and I presume the same is intended for the left) LONDON REGIONAL INVENTORY. Jane Jephcote and I have now very largely finished the work for the new edition of the London RI, which will be coming out under the sexier title of London Heritage Pubs: An Inside Story with a strap line of Historic Pub Interiors in the Capital. It is being published by CAMRA Books, probably early July, and they are planning a really good looking effort. We are heading for about 152 pubs and that’s up on the previous 133 (despite losses) thanks to excellent leads provided by lots of people. The new book will have much fuller descriptions than before and it is expected that every pub will be illustrated. So if you know of any hot London leads let me know PDQ. Merry Christmas and happy historic pub visiting in the New Year. Geoff
