The National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors
|
The National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors, lists those pub interiors which CAMRA regards as being in the “first division” when it comes to national pub preservation priorities. Work on it started in 1991 and it currently comprises 277 entries. The National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors is in two parts: Part One (174 entries) includes pubs whose interiors have remained wholly or largely intact since World War Two or, in some exceptional cases, since 1970. Part Two (103 entries) covers interiors which, though altered to an extent, retain exceptional rooms or features which are of national historic importance. It also includes outstanding pub-type rooms in other kinds of establishment like hotels or station buffets. The National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors can be accessed on this web site in a variety of ways:

The National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors is constantly evolving. Sadly, some pubs currently listed will either close or be ruined despite our best efforts to stop this. More happily, we continue to discover previously unreported interiors deserving inclusion. CAMRA's Pub Heritage Group is always eager to hear from anyone who feels that a particular pub interior is worthy of consideration. Similarly, we need to know of any threat to an existing entry so that we can take what action we can. Regional Inventories of Historic Pub Interiors are the next tier in the pub preservation hierarchy. They list, in addition to pubs on the National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors in the area, those interiors which, whilst altered, still have significant historic or architectural value. Six Real Heritage Pubs guides have so far been published – for London, East Anglia, North East England, Scotland, Wales and Yorkshire. You can purchase copies from the CAMRA bookshop. The 'East Midlands Real Heritage Pubs’ will be published during 2011 and by 2013 all the remaining Real Heritage Pubs guides should be available. You can also view some Real Heritage Pubs guides for some parts of the UK on this website. If you have any updates or comments about these pubs, or can identify other possible Real Heritage Pubs candidates please email info.pubheritage@camra.org.uk |
