GREATER MANCHESTER - Stockport, Swan with Two Necks National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors Part One Princes Street, Stockport, SK1 1RY Tel: 0161 480 2341 Public Transport: Railway Station: Stockport Listed Status: Grade II Rebuilt or remodelled about 1930, this pub has not really changed since. The exterior is not a particularly elegant composition but what counts is the interior. It is simply organised with a corridor running the length of the building on the right-hand side, and leading (from front to back) a public bar, the servery (with a drinking lobby in front) and a lounge behind. Extensive use is made of wall panelling as was so often the case in inter-war pubs. The lounge, particularly, with its Tudor-style fireplace, succeeds in creating a warm, comfortable atmosphere. |
