DERBYSHIRE - Glossop, Crown National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors Part One 142 Victoria Street, Glossop, SK13 8JF Tel: Opening Hours: Opens at 5 Mon to Thu; 11.30 Fri, Sat, 12 Sun. Listed Status: Not listed End of terrace pub still retaining three rooms and a lobby bar with fittings at least dating back to the 1930s. The solid bar counter and two sets of bar back shelves do look old/original with only some minor modern additions to the bar back. To the right are two snugs, the front one retains 1920/30s fixed seating and tiled fireplace of a similar age with a marble (effect) overmantel. The rear snug was a living room until the 1960s and the fixed seating and fireplace are of a more modern nature. On the left is a games room which would have been two small rooms in the distant past but has been like this for many years, possibly since the 1930s which could be the date of the fixed seating, the baffles by the door could be older? Note the bracket shaped items around the walls which appear to be some sort of vent. 1930s red painted etched panels in the ladies’ and gents’ doors. |
