GREATER MANCHESTER - Westhoughton, White Lion National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors Part One 2 Market Street, Westhoughton, Bolton, BL5 3AN (B5235) Tel: 01942 811991 Listed Status: Not listed A plain corner-site pub with a remarkably intact interior refitted probably in the 1920s. The centre-piece of the pub is the servery which has etched sash screens and a tile-fronted counter in buff, blue-grey and a few multi-coloured patterned tiles. On the right is a large drinking lobby which leads to the vaults (front left). Bar parlour (front right), smoke room (rear left) but completely refitted and the so-called ‘ugly’ room (rear) with its fine fireplace. There are bell pushes for table service in the parlour, ‘ugly’ room and, unusually, in the vaults. There is quite a good selection of etched glass. |
